1953 Corvette The first Corvette was built on June 30th, 1953 at the Flint, Michigan plant. White exterior, red interior, fiberglass body, chrome grill with 13 vertical bars, no side windows, no outside door handles, recessed headlights, floor-mounted Powerglide 2-speed automatic transmission. |

1954 Corvette Available in Sportsman Red & Black, Pennant Blue and Polo White. Beige soft top. Very similar to the 1953, but some changes were made to the window storage bar, air cleaners, starter and the location of the fuel and brake lines. |

1955 Corvette Similar to the 1954, except that '55 was available with a V-8 engine. An enlarged gold V in the word Chevrolet on the front fenders was a quick way to tell V-8 powered cars from the 6 bangers. The V-8s could go from zero to 100 in 24 seconds. 1956 Corvette Colors: Onyx Black Polo White Cascade Green Aztec Copper Venetian Red Changes were made to the front fenders and headlights. Door handles were added. Side coves were featured. Interior colors were beige or red. Zero to 100 time was 19.9 seconds. |

Corvette Similar to the previous year, but now available with a 283 V8 engine. |

The standard 230 h.p. engine would do zero to 60 in 9.2 seconds. The 290 h.p. would do 0-60 in 6.5 seconds. |

1965 Changes for '65 included three functional vertical front fender louvers, a blacked-out horizontal bar grill and updated rocker panel molding. Standard equipment: Tachometer, seat belts, heater/defroster, windshield washer, outside rearview mirror, dual exhaust, electric clock, carpeting, manually operated soft top and sun visors. Colors: Tuxedo Black Ermine White Goldwood Yellow Rally Red Nassau Blue Glen Green Silver Pearl Milano Maroon 4-Speed: 89.6% Power Glide 2-Speed Automatic: 8.6% An L78 would go from 0-60 in 5.6 seconds and 0-100 in 13.4 seconds. |

1966 New features: Eggcrate grill, ribbed rocker panel molding, chrome plated exhaust bezels, spoke-style wheel covers and vinyl headliners. Roof vents were eliminated. A power bulge in the hood distinguished those equipped with the new 427. 1968 This year featured a removable back window and a two piece detachable roof section. The convertible's optional hard top had a glass rear window.
